A native of Cambridge, Massachusetts, I spent my youth exploring parks and sidewalks and experiencing the plethora of cultures that populate the many neighborhoods of the urban environment. I grew to know the people inside the buildings and subways, and I listened to their stories of coexistence within the thriving city.
When I left the urban community, my exploration of the natural world began. I focused on earth-based skills and ultimately, the connection between plants and people. My curiosity took me to national and international locations including organic farms in Costa Rica and the Kuna Yala islands off the Eastern Coast of Panama.
Upon my return to the Northeast, and without healthcare, I started to focus on plants and healing. I completed a live-in apprenticeship with Herbalist, Susun Weed and attended many herbal medicine gatherings and workshops. I managed and cultivated the educational gardens at the Massachusetts Audubon Society at Drumlin Farms in addition to apprenticing at the Patera Chinese herbal medicine garden in Vermont. In order to enhance my knowledge, I completed a three year Clinical Herbalist Program at the Vermont Center For Integrative Herbalism under the tutelage of professional herbalists, Guido Masé, Larken Bunce, and Betzy Bancroft.
I hold a B.A from Connecticut College in Latin American Studies as well as state certifications from Massachusetts and Connecticut in early childhood education, elementary education, and Spanish. I am bilingual and have taught children and adults in the US and internationally, in formal classrooms and informal settings including: Standing Rock Reservation in South Dakota, elementary schools in Puebla, Mexico, Great Hollow Wilderness School, Vermont Center for Integrative herbalism, Amigos Dual Language School, and Daughters of the Earth Gathering.
Through the years, I have witnessed the amazing healing properties that plants offer. I have also seen benefits in the collaboration between traditional plant medicine and Western Medicine. Ultimately, my desire and intention is to revive the connection between plants and humans in hopes of redefining vital health.
