Mom is doing well. So much better than I think anyone could ever have imagined. Physiotherapy is in full swing. Boris, Mom's physiotherapist is the right person for her as the humour and witty banter between the two make the whole process less stressful. Mom is up and walking regularly, she is even starting to build those biceps. I think I see an arm wrestling champ in the making ( just kidding... or am I????). The super bandage was removed Monday as it was no longer needed, the healing of the skin graft is doing incredibly well. Dr Graham her plastic surgeon checks on Mom each time she goes down to wound care to have the bandage on her arm changed, however, he is not the only one to come and see Mom, there are many people in the hospital who continue to stop by or check in to see how she is doing. One nurse even thought that Mom was some celebrity asking " who are you?" just because so many of the staff attend to her or come to check on her. Speaking of other visitors....
Many of you have been asking about visiting, and we thank you for your patience while we waited for the thumbs up from the doctor's to have people visit. Tuesday we got the thumbs up! Mom is now allowed to have visitors, however, there are still some safety measures we need to have around those visits. Mom has very long days between physiotherapy and wound care appointments, so we cannot have more than a couple of people see her over a few days, as she is continuing to work up her energy.
We have a few requests:
1) Visits need to occur weekdays between 3 pm - 6 pm, Saturdays between 1 pm - 4 pm Sundays 1 pm-4 pm If you would like to visit Mom, please email me with the date and time. I need to know you are coming and in case something changes I can contact you should we need to cancel or reschedule. Email: email@example.com
2) If you are sick or have been within the two weeks we ask that you do not come to see Mom, her immune system has taken a beating and we still need to be cautious.
3) You must hand sanitize before and after visits. There are lots of dispensers all around the hospital.
We thank you all so much for your continued prayers, I know we would not be where we are today without them. I am looking forward to connecting with some of you in person. We also thank you all in advance for respecting these requests, and I know you all understand so no explanation is really necessary, but do know that we love you all.
